FAQ

What facilities are in the wood?

The centre has a large covered area for wet days, separate male/female earth composting toilets, ample parking and adjoining the main work area a well equipped cooking area for the teas/coffee and biscuits we provide throughout the day.

What sort of numbers / abilities do you cater for?

Greenwood-days caters for between 1-100 people. We try out best to cater for all abilities within the constraints of the centre’s location within woodland.

We have experience with physical and mental disabilities, blind and visually impaired participants.

The oldest participant so far is 71 with one woman 8 months pregnant! We tailor days to your employees, allowing everybody to achieve.

What characteristics do you expect people to bring out during your particular teambuilding sessions?

At greenwood days we offer a different environment giving people the chance to step outside normal roles. We can examine how people interact with each other when the less dominant members of the team are empowered.

Some of our tutors come from a community arts background and are well versed in allowing all to contribute, teasing out the creative side of your employees through unusual, enjoyable and fulfilling scenarios. We examine whether people communicate accurately and efficiently.

Who contributes ideas? Who stands back?

The sessions are novel; outside the usual patterns of work and so give an opportunity for normally hidden skills to shine. Within this there is scope for strength, problem solving, artistic opportunities, ability to coordinate efforts, delegation skills. We will tailor the session to what you want to investigate.

How long is a typical teambuilding exercise?

...as long or as short a time as you wish. A typical teambuilding session last 2 ½ hours. Sessions can be booked as morning or afternoon sessions or as a whole day.

Tailored solutions can last for as long or short times as you wish, though the longer sessions are interspersed with coffee and tea breaks.

Meals / overnight stay?

All of our food is of high quality with our caterers sourcing locally and in season when possible. We cater within your budget with meals ranging from a simple buffet to a three-course sit down meal in the woodland.

We can usually cater for different dietary requirements from the simple vegatarian /vegan option to Atkins and beyond.

If your day is extended into the evening we can arrange a BBQ feast finishing after the sun has set and when the sharp tools have been made safe at the end of the day we provide a full range of drinks to complement the meal.

If you are staying overnight the local town (Melbourne) is a food lovers paradise hosting three high quality restaurants and two gastro pubs, which can usually be booked for your exclusive use.

What if the weather is bad?

Whatever the weather you can have a fantastic experience. We have large areas under cover, which allow you to shelter from the rain but still feel part of the wood. Some exercises have to take place outside the cover (shelter building) and we advise on suitable clothing.

Does it have to be competitive?

If you want to run the day/session as a competition we can arrange this but part of our ideals is to create a space where you can be challenged but in a cooperative way. You work within a team to succeed in your exercise, competing to succeed not to beat the other person.

Do you have to come to Spring Wood for a Greenwood Days event?

Spring Wood is the ideal area for a Greenwood Days event with all the facilities on hand but we can set up camp close to or bring into your workplace a selection of activities. Insurance? We are fully insured for running all types of events at Spring Wood.

Safety, do you carry out risk assessments, how are you covered?

All our sessions are risk assessed and we are fully insured against all eventualities. Most of our tutors are qualified first aiders so with smaller groups there will be at least two first aiders on site.

For the larger events we employ the St Johns Ambulance service as the dedicated first aider on site. We have been running courses and events at Spring Wood for all ages and abilities for 6 years with no major incidents.

For some sessions you will use sharp tools where you are given full instruction on their safe use, though working with sharp tools, mallets, drills etc there have been the occasional bruised finger or minor cut!! (We will always ask you to advise us on relevant medical conditions of your employees).
